Course Summary: The two day, 16-hour Instructor Carbine Course focuses on safe weapons handling to achieve a shooter’s highest level of speed and accuracy for carbine shooting.
Pre-Training Brief: Prior to students going out to the range, the students are briefed on grounds and safety basics to prepare for the live-fire portion of the course.
Day 1: Each course will begin with a carbine standards assessment test, which enables us to adjust the difficulty level, challenging the students for each particular course. From the results of this test, the instructor will evaluate the level of proficiency of the students and proceed into instruction. While teaching carbine fundamentals, instructors embed efficient carbine manipulation immediate/remedial drills and techniques to include low ready, high ready, recoil management, controlled recoil, work-space, tactical reloads, bolt lock reload, and rifle el-prez. Students are given ample time to learn each drill discussed while working in shooter and spotter pairs.
Malfunctions (I/II/III) are also thoroughly covered. The students will be taught methods to identify why and when the drills must be done, including simplified explanations of techniques that will ensure their success/completion of each drill. Clothing attire and sling considerations will also be covered to give students the necessary knowledge to outfit their ‘kit’ effectively when training with a rifle.
Day 2: The second day of carbine training will be on our steel ranges. Each steel range tests the students’ understanding/skill level of the fundamentals previously covered and introduces them to working with one to four-man teams, bounding, movement in structures, in and around cover and utilizing communication and team SOPs. Additionally, students will engage targets from many different tactical positions including barricades, various vehicles, boulders, tree, logs, etc. Students will become proficient in shooting on the move, engaging multiple target scenarios at adverse angles, communicating and practicing individual units’ SOPs.
The course culminates with a thorough evaluation of each skill set that has been emphasized throughout the training.
